First Lesson
Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to their first lesson.
Lesson Preparedness
Students are expected to arrive on time with all required lesson materials. This includes any instrument or equipment the student is expected to bring. Your Apt 4 Music instructor will reach out regarding any materials needed for your first lesson. Apt 4 Music reserves the right to dismiss anyone missing their required materials, or more than ten minutes late to their lesson or class.
Respecting Staff and Studio
Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Apt 4 Music reserves the right to dismiss anyone disrespecting our staff, clients, equipment, or family safe environment.
Time in The Studio
At Apt 4 Music, we prefer students explore their aptitude alone with our trusted staff. Space in the studio is limited, and so we require that those accompanying a student to their lesson wait in the hall. Parents are welcome to briefly discuss assignments and learning strategies at the end of each lesson, and all staff are available via email. However, on a case by case basis, if our staff determine a student needs extra support, Apt 4 Music may require a parent or guardian assist their student in the studio, or require that the parent or guardian stay nearby in the hall in case of the need for assistance.
Virtual Lessons
Preparation
Expect an email before your first lesson with instructions on how best to prepare your device and environment for online learning.
Lesson Link
For security purposes, you will be emailed a unique meeting link by the day of your lesson. Please call or text (619) 363-1577 or email info@apt4music.org if you do not receive your link.
Technical Issues
Apt 4 Music staff are trained to deal with most technical issues. Call or text (619) 363-1577 if you require assistance. Lessons missed due to poor connection, insufficient equipment, etc on the part of our students will not be refunded.
In Person Lessons
Location
We are located at 2590 Truxtun Rd Suite 100 (Building 176). Parking at the Dorothea Laub Music and Arts Center can be limited, so please plan accordingly.
Student Illness
No students should attend lessons when sick (ie fever, nausea, vomiting, etc). Apt 4 Music reserves the right to dismiss anyone exhibiting possible symptoms of illness. Online lesson or virtual resource lessons are available if a student can not come to the studio.
Waiting Areas
Apt 4 Music staff do not supervise the Building 176 hallways, restrooms, parking lot, and surrounding areas. Guardians must use discretion before leaving any age appropriate minor unattended. Apt 4 Music reserves the right to require that a guardian attend a minor's lessons if Apt 4 Music staff deems this necessary. Otherwise, anyone waiting must refrain from disrupting ongoing activities in the studio. Apt 4 Music reserves the right to dismiss anyone engaging in unacceptable behavior near the studio.
Natural Disaster and Pandemic Response
In the event of a studio closing event, all paid lessons will be fulfilled expediently. This could include transferring all in-person services to virtual platforms.
